[ 6:51:22 pm ] you know and i [ 6:51:23 pm ] walked back and i sat down and i was like [ 6:51:27 pm ] i don’t wanna know what i’m going to say next.
Finally, when we had a solid game mechanic to base the entire game on, we started thinking about horror movies. I think this is exactly where we ended up. The players dont know what is happening, but they know they arent in Kansas anymore. They know theyve entered hell. Outlast tries to allow the players to experience what it is like to wake up in a crazy asylum.
Our game mechanic was terrifying. But we could still see that we had a problem: When hell broke loose in Outlast, it wasnt enough to make the player feel like he was in hell. The player still felt that theres more to go, that there is something worse that he isnt telling us about. Thats the trick of horror: You must scare the player by having the player know that hell is going to get worse, that theres nothing stopping the player from running out of time, and that there is nothing he can do about it.
They did not detect it on my PC. I followed the process they provided, and it did not work. So I made the hard decision of ripping the disc out of the case. I was going to install it on my second rig, but I had some chores to do, and I needed a workstation. I still have the disc though, so I will try the game again. Its honestly the only reason why I hesitate to rip the disc. If it doesnt work it will forever be a regret, and you will never get the chance to experience the game. So I will give the disc a try. I downloaded the game from here, then ran the installation script. Checked the compatibility list, and the game popped up on the list. Then I chose to install and I just did that and got a full screen warning for a second. Then the installation was complete. I went to my task manager, and no icon is on my task bar. I thought it had installed onto my second rig, but it didnt show up. So I went to my downloads folder, and no game installed. Then I opened the game folder, and the game was still there.
