the protagonist of assassin’s creed ii, altair, was inspired by leonardo da vinci. leonardo’s drawings are hidden in almost every location in the game. the game starts in the night time, which was not in the original game but fits in with the design of the first game, where ezio traveled through the night. because the city is at night, there are no boats but some part of the game is played in a submarine. in this game, some you do not have to kill others, such as the giant octopus. also, the more you upgrade your house, the greater the number of items that are stored there. you can move to other cities when you have enough money and there are other cities to visit.
unlike its predecessors, there is no rpg system in this game. instead, your decisions and actions greatly influence the story. however, your choices will not influence your ending. for example, you can take a route through the game that will make you become a betrayer of the assassins, while another path will make you redeem yourself and become an ally of the assassins. unlike the fourth game, however, there is no option to start over. you are either good or evil.
assassin’s creed iii is the ultimate assassin’s creed game in that it puts a heavier emphasis on story, and the narrative remains the driving force of the game. the city of renaissance florence opens up for exploration, allowing you to follow the story of a band of freedom fighters or, if youre not into that, you can just kill for the fun of it. its replay value also never gets stale and the usual gameplay elements never become tiresome.
the gameplay in this release is amazing. its action-packed, it has fantastic immersive environments, and it has some of the best free running around. it also feels like a new and fresh experience. when you succeed, youre treated to a cinematic display that really does make you feel like youre in the middle of the action. when you fail, it still feels like an assassin in the making. its also easy to get lost in this world, the city in assassin’s creed 2 is now so much larger and with a much wider range of missions to take on, and the even more grand surroundings add to the depth of this installment. the experience can be a bit long-winded at times and there isn’t a huge amount of challenge here, but the experience as a whole is certainly worth it.
