Overview

Tanks, we all know the drill: first comes boots, then comes legs, then comes a frickin’ tank. Of course in the World of Tanks universe, – e.g. the game we’re going to take a look at –, ships carry and fire two distinct types of fire: Secondary Fire (as in: “forward firing [weapons]”) and Primary Fire (as in: “rifle[turret]”). Of course, if you’re playing a ship with a cannon rather than a more traditional turret-mounted weapon, it stands to reason that you need some parts to charge. The latter, Primary Fire, is generally just simple reloading. As far as the Secondary Fire is concerned, there are two key parts: the ammunition, and the turret reload/resupply system.

To charge Secondary Fire, you have two options on offer. The first, of course, is rack ammo: changing out a pre-fired shell for a fully loaded one. The second, however, is more of a throwback to when World of Tanks first appeared: Fuel canisters. These are the non-mechanical version of tanks. They’re brought into the equation mainly by the map objectives, because they’re needed to enable you to, well, turn the Lights Out. Not that you’ll want to, mind you – thanks to the never-ending scarcity of them in World of Tanks, you really wouldn’t want to use them for anything else.

So the Opposition’s got these two tricks up their sleeves – their Primary Fire is thus fully charged, usually right from the get-go – and you’re subject to the same limitations: primarily, that there are certain strategies you can employ to catch opponents off-guard. Due to this, you have to find ways to maintain your Turrets’ charge, and do that without having to rebuild your entire ship. The answer: TurretShields.
